Valdez
July 23rd, 2010Arrived in Valdez on Wednesday. After checking out the town we went to where the silver salmon were running. I never saw so much fish in my life.Rich went back the next day with his rod and caught his limit. We cooked all we could eat and froze the rest. We leave here this morning and head to Tok. The view from the RV park is great but when I get the camera out to take a picture the clouds come in and cover up the mountains, Glacier and waterfalls. We spent yesterday cleaning the RV, car, clothes and the dogs. Well that's all for now. Moe
Homer
July 16th, 2010We are in Homer and I have a beautiful view out the dining room window. There is the ocean ( at high tide) with mountains in the background and they are snow and ice capped. So relaxing to look at. It is 7 pm and the sun is still high in the sky. The scenery from Anchorage to here is the best that I have seen. When we checked in the lady said that they have had mostly cloudy days all month but today is the best day she has seen all monh. tomorrow is supposed to be sunny also. We drove down to the docks so that Rich could book his fishing trip. We saw the boats bringing in today's catch. You can not believe the size of the Halibut we saw one that weighed in at 67 lbs and later we saw one that was bigger but we don't know what it weighed. I hope Rich comes back with a decent size catch since he has been looking forward to fishing ever since we left texas. He will be getting up early like he used to do for work. I plan on sleeping late. Not sure yet what Lahoma, Bill and I will do tomorrow. I want to catch up on the laundry and then maybe check out the neighborhood shops.

Anchorage
July 15th, 2010Hello Again,
We had a good day trip through Denali Park and we got to see many animals. Caribou, bears, Dall Sheep, Moose, Ravens, and others that I can't remember the names of right now.(it's tough getting old) You will have to look at Rich's pictures. We are now in Anchorage and we drove around to visit the town and shop at the fur store Lahome got a fur vest and I got a fur key chain. It is a nice size city big enough to have all you need but not so big that it takes long to get around. We had a reindeer hot dog from a street vendor and it was very good. This evening we went to a show that featured sled dogs it was corney but the dogs were nice to see. Yesterday we went to flattop mountain which has a great view of the entire city on the way back we saw a mama Moose and her calf on the side of the road. We bought tickets today to go on a all day cruise after we get to Seward on the 19th to see the glaciers and have dinner at Fox Island. Hope we don't freeze. We are leaving tomorrow to go to Homer that is where Rich is planning to do some fishing. At this point I don't think anyone is going with him. It depends on how long the fishing trip will be and what accommondations the boat has.
Well that is all for now.

Denali
July 13th, 2010Hello from Denali . This is a small unique town with beautiful mountain scenery, these mountains have less pine trees and more bushes. The buildings are made to look like log cabins but they all look new and like there were built around the same time. The grassless RV park backs up to the back of a strip of cabins(stores) that cater to the tourists, souveniers, river rafting rides, hot dogs , ice cream and local art etc. We found that one of the stores here had good prices as compared to all the ones in previous towns and the others here. So we bought more they we should have. Across the street is the larger log buildings which are the hotels. So far we have only seen 2 small grocery stores. The town is too small for a wal-mart or any chain stores but they did have a subway inside one the log cabins. Later today we will be taking a bus tour of the state park, it is a all day tour so we have packed a lunch and will take the cameras. We are hoping to see Mt McKinley and some wildlife since we have not see many animals since we have left Yellowstone. I keep hearing about Moose and Caribu but have not seen any yet. Except the captive reindeer at the North Pole which Rich got a picture of.
We made a stop along the road to here at Nenana which is a cute rustic historic town which only takes a short while to see it all. It has a cute Train station and a river at one end of town and of course mountains all around. The ride from Fairbanks to Denali is short so we got here early Monday afternoon. We will be leaving Wednesday morning. The weather has been nice every since we left Canada. It has been warmer in Alaska.
Time to get ready for our day long tour I will let you know how it went on my next post.

Fairbanks
July 11th, 2010Hi ,
Well we made it to Fairbanks with a stopover in Tok. The weather here is wonderful. We played golf yesterday and everyone except me played in shorts. We are going to visit the Northpole today. We watched some canoers today and took some pictures of the local beaver. The dryer part of the washer combo was not working so Rich replaced the heating element and we are running a test load now. The dogs are enjoying their walks and all the attention they are getting. The clothes are done and the washer is fixed so now it is time to go to the North Pole. Talk again soon.
Love Ya,
Moe
